A woman charged with stalking Kate McCann apparently left her a recorded message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has repeatedly asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned call records and evidence obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most covered child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One phone message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am she? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.

The panel was informed that by means of emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who compiled the evidence, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On that date, the father picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."

Kate and Gerry McCann gave evidence to the court from using a security measure on Wednesday

The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in the county in that winter.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be considered genuine in the months preceding the trip to the village, that area, in last December.

The court learned communications between the two accused, in that autumn, discussing attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from utensils at a eating establishment.

"We must assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their house, Mrs Spragg sent a message which stated: "We are positioned outside the McCanns' house with our vehicle dark similar to private investigators. I desired to accomplish this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The proceedings ongoing.
