Our Purpose Involves Only Eliminating' - How Sudan's Ruthless Paramilitary Group Perpetrated a Atrocity

Caution: This Report Includes Disturbing Accounts of Executions.

Fighters smirk as they ride on the bed of a utility vehicle, hurrying alongside a line of nine lifeless forms and moving facing the sinking Sudan's sunset.

"Look at all this work. Observe this act of ethnic cleansing," a fighter cheers.

He grins as he turns the recording device on his person and his associate militiamen, their Rapid Support Forces insignia on display: "They will all be killed in this manner."

The men are celebrating a massacre that aid workers believe killed more than thousands of people in the Sudanese city of el-Fasher last month.

A City Severed from the Outside

Having held the community under siege for nearly two years, from late summer the paramilitary force proceeded to reinforce its dominance and restrict the remaining inhabitants.

Space-based imagery show that troops started to build a massive berm - a built-up dirt embankment - around the boundaries of al-Fashir, closing access routes and preventing aid.

While the blockade intensified, 78 civilians were slain in an RSF attack on a mosque on 19 September, while the United Nations stated dozens further were killed in aerial and cannon attacks on a displacement camp in fall.

Graphic Recording Reveals Defenseless Civilians Executed

By sunrise on 26 October the RSF overwhelmed the final government positions and took control of the primary compound in the community, the main facility of the 6th Infantry Division, as the army withdrew.

Perhaps the most graphic footage to emerge and studied revealed the aftermath of a mass killing at a campus structure on the western side of the city, where numerous corpses were visible scattered over the floor.

An older person dressed in a white tunic was seated isolated surrounded by the corpses. He turned to look as a fighter equipped with a weapon walked descending the steps facing the victim. Raising his rifle, the shooter released a solitary shot at the victim, who fell to the floor lifeless.

"Why is this one yet breathing," one militiaman shouted. "Shoot him."

Orbital photography taken on 26 October seemed to confirm that executions were additionally carried out on the thoroughfares of el-Fasher, according to a report issued by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab.

One eyewitness who communicated stated the individual had seen "many of our relatives being killed - they were gathered in a single location and everyone murdered."

RSF Officers Seek to Implement Public Relations

During the period that ensued from the atrocity, paramilitary chief conceded that his troops had carried out "violations" and stated the incidents would be examined.

Part of the arrested was after a analysis documenting his killings. Carefully staged and edited video shared on the militia's formal messaging channel reveal the individual being led into a cell at a detention facility on the outskirts of el-Fasher.

At the same time, the militia and affiliated digital channels started seeking to alter the story.

Content depicting its fighters providing assistance to inhabitants were circulated by some accounts, while the paramilitary's public relations unit shared multiple recordings purporting to display the proper management of government prisoners of war.

Despite the digital effort being deployed by the militia, their activities in the city have generated worldwide outrage.
