Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the squad's 10-match winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the team - are among the options to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
